Nepal is a landlocked country on the northeastern border of India. Nepal is the land of the Himalayas - home to 8 of the 10 tallest mountains in the world, including Mount Everest. The country, which only just became a democratic republic in 2008, is predominantly Hindu. The people of this country are financially poor and struggling - especially after the 2015 earthquake which literally rocked the country for weeks.
As poor as they are financially, they are more poor spiritually - only just being opened to the Gospel less than 50 years ago. Sam has visited this country to preach in the rural highlands where he met and taught many people who had no recognition of the name of Jesus at all. He even had to explain to them what a cross was in order to teach them about our Lord.
During his first trip, Sam met Bishnu - a Nepali believer and teacher who is very evangelistic. He has written a couple gospel tracts and translated the Book of John in to Nepali. We have been able to partially support his efforts by paying for printing costs. We have also provided funds for food, blankets, and medical supplies during the earthquake relief.
Pray with us that Bishnu will be able to start a church outside Kathmandu, the capital city, and that he will train others to evangelize to the tribal people in the mountains!
